Frequently asked questions

Common questions about how Muginai works, what it covers, and how to get started. Can't find your answer? Join the waitlist and ask us directly.

What is Muginai and how is it different from Ahrefs or SEMrush?

Muginai is an autonomous AI SEO platform — it doesn't just show you data, it acts on it. Ahrefs and SEMrush are research tools: they surface keyword data and leave all the work to you. Muginai takes that data and autonomously runs keyword research, writes content briefs, queues drafts, tracks rankings daily, and alerts you via Telegram when something requires your attention. It replaces most of the workflow, not just one tool in it.

How does autonomous keyword research work?

Muginai starts with your business description or seed keywords. It then scrapes Google Suggest across multiple locale and country combinations, runs TF-IDF analysis on competitor pages to surface gaps in your coverage, classifies each keyword by search intent (informational, transactional, navigational), and groups related terms into semantic clusters — all automatically. A typical run produces 500+ clustered, scored keywords per project. Results are reviewed in the panel; you approve the clusters you want to pursue and the content pipeline takes it from there.

Does Muginai auto-publish content without my approval?

Only if you explicitly enable fully autonomous mode. By default, content briefs are generated automatically and queued for your review. You approve, edit, or reject each brief before a draft is created. Drafts go through a second approval gate before publishing. The human-in-the-loop gates exist specifically for brand voice and content quality decisions. If you trust the output quality after the first few months, you can configure the system to publish autonomously.

How often does rank tracking run and how will I know if something drops?

Rank tracking runs every 24 hours across all tracked keywords. When a keyword drops 3 or more positions, Muginai fires a Telegram alert before the traffic impact shows up in your analytics. The alert includes the keyword, previous and current position, and — if the drop is significant — a suggested action (usually a content refresh). The Telegram bot also delivers weekly rank digests and responds to commands like /rank <keyword> for manual checks.

What backlink data sources does Muginai use?

Muginai uses CommonCrawl CDX as its primary free backlink source — no third-party API key required for basic backlink monitoring. The Starter plan includes CDX-based discovery. The Pro and Agency plans add DataForSEO integration for real-time backlink data, domain rating estimates, anchor text analysis, and toxic link flagging for disavow file generation. New and lost backlinks are surfaced in 7, 14, and 30-day windows.

What is programmatic SEO and which plan includes it?

Programmatic SEO is the practice of generating hundreds of location-specific or use-case-specific landing pages from structured data, rather than writing each page individually. Muginai generates pages like /seo-agency/toronto/ or /for/saas/ automatically from data files, with unique content, correct schema markup, and internal links woven between programmatic and editorial content. Programmatic SEO pages are included in the Agency plan. The sitemap is automatically updated and submitted on each deploy.

Can I use Muginai for a site in a language other than English?

Yes. Muginai supports multi-locale keyword research and content — the platform itself is currently available in English and Russian. The keyword research engine runs Google Suggest expansion across locale and country combinations, so you can target keywords in any language where Google Suggest data is available. The content pipeline generates briefs in the target locale. Hreflang tags are managed automatically for sites targeting multiple languages.

How does the Telegram bot work and what can it do?

The Telegram bot is your real-time interface to Muginai's intelligence. Connect it to a private channel or group and it delivers rank alerts, weekly reports, and content pipeline status updates. You can also issue commands: /report generates and sends a full SEO report, /rank <keyword> checks live position for a specific term, /brief <keyword> queues a content brief directly from Telegram, /discover triggers a keyword discovery run, and /serp runs a manual SERP refresh. All plans include the Telegram bot; Starter gets weekly digests, Pro and Agency get daily alerts.

How many projects can I run and what counts as a project?

A project corresponds to one website domain. The Starter plan supports 1 project (1 domain), Pro supports 5 projects, and Agency supports 25 projects. Each project has its own keyword database, rank tracking configuration, backlink monitoring, content pipeline, and Telegram alert channel. Multi-tenant isolation ensures project data never mixes.

What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) and why does it matter?

GEO is the practice of making your site visible to AI-powered search engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews — not just traditional Google. These systems pull facts from indexed sources, and being cited requires structured data they can parse. Muginai handles this automatically: it generates an llms.txt machine-readable summary of your site, adds FAQPage and HowTo JSON-LD schema to all key pages, explicitly allowlists 15 major AI crawlers in robots.txt, and includes an entity plan in every content brief so LLMs see your brand associated with relevant topics.

How does outreach automation work and is it safe for my email domain?

Muginai discovers link prospects from competitor backlink gaps (sites linking to rivals but not to you), CommonCrawl-indexed pages in your niche, and your own CSV imports. Each prospect enters a personalized email sequence of 2–5 steps with configurable delays. For new sender accounts, a warmup scheduler ramps from 5 emails per day to 40 per day over 3–4 weeks to build sender reputation before live campaigns start. All sends go through your connected account (Gmail, Outlook, or SMTP) — Muginai never sends from a shared domain. Positive replies auto-pause the sequence; negative replies add the domain to a permanent do-not-contact list. Outreach automation is available on Pro and Agency plans.

Does Muginai monitor what my competitors are publishing?

Yes. Competitor content monitoring re-indexes competitor sitemaps weekly and re-crawls page content on a 14-day cycle. When a competitor's sitemap grows by 10% or more in a single week — a signal of a programmatic SEO push — Muginai fires a velocity spike alert immediately. The competitor intelligence view shows content velocity per competitor, SERP keyword overlap score, and a keyword gap table of terms your rivals rank for that you currently don't. Starter plan tracks up to 3 competitors; Pro tracks up to 10; Agency is unlimited.

How are SEO reports generated and where do they go?

Muginai generates a weekly SEO digest every Monday: rank movers (gains and losses), new and lost backlinks, pipeline status, anomaly log, and an LLM-written narrative paragraph with prioritised next actions. On the first Monday of each month a deeper 30-day report is generated covering cluster-level rank trends and competitor velocity. Reports are delivered to your connected Telegram channel. Mid-week anomalies — a rank drop of 2+ standard deviations from baseline, a significant backlink loss — fire immediately as individual alerts. Pro and Agency plans support custom report schedules and recipients.
